Biography

Alan grew up near Boston, the son of Irish (Catholic) and Russian (Jewish) immigrants. He started his career by working his way through undergraduate studies and later obtained an MBA. Alan's early career as military officer was where he obtained solid communication skills. Later Alan came with his family from Boston to Southern California in 1977. It was then he sought to pursue teaching Biblical Studies. He obtained a Master's degree in Theology with an emphasis in Scripture. Since then he has taught Scripture at various conferences and has now given over 700 talks on Sacred Scripture to a variety of religious groups. Alan has a special love of Scripture, and now devotes his daily life to biblical research and teaching. He has been writing commentaries on Scripture for over 30 years. Alan likes to make the study of Scripture fun and exciting, and uses many maps, charts, diagrams, photos, depictions, and artwork as he teaches. As a theologian, he emphasizes having faith in his presentations of Scripture. Alan and his wife Susan have seven children. He never knew his natural father, so he calls St. Paul his father.

Alan's Approach to Biblical Study

As a Biblical Scholar and Theologian, Alan's approach to the cultural literature of both Judaism and Christianity is to share an enthusiasm of faith through biblical studies. His approach to the teaching of the Gospels is to integrate within the study of the New Testament an awareness of Old Testament traditions and early Church history, as well as theology and saintly meditations. Alan brings with him a pastoral awareness and an enhanced understanding about the character of the Church through research into Scripture, Church history, and the patristic literature. He is deeply Orthodox and loyal to the Magisterium of the Church. His conferences are an exciting experience for all!

The Conferences

This conferences series will discuss in detail each week's readings along with gospel message. Discussions will center upon a united meaning of the three readings that reveals the deeper meaning of Scripture that helps us to live holy lives in union with each other and the doing of the will of God. Included in the discussions will be the historical background of the readings and comparisons between the three synoptic Gospels, along with charts, maps, depictions, and various pieces of artwork. All are invited.
